What could be wrong with my fingers?

About a month ago I got an intense pain in my finger, for no reason, this pain lasted ten minutes, one week later the finger went yellow and waxy, after that the skin dried and flaked off, finally I have been left with a finger nail that is mostly reddish brown. Now this past week the same thing has happened to another finger. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
