My dogs ear smells HORRIBLE and is kinda puffy...what can I do?

It sounds to me like your dog has an ear infection. I don't know if your ideas will work or not. You said your dog is old, I would suggest taking her to the vet even though it will cost you some money. Because of her age there could be an underlying problem that is causing her ear to swell and stink.
