Having Problems After Removing Braids From Philippines (URGENT)?

I did hair braiding for half of my head in Boracay, and i removed it after 1 week. However after removing, the area which was braided feels sticky, waxy and hard. The other parts of my hair is still smooth and flowy except the top half head. It seems like hard wax or glue which was used during the braiding process remains on my hair. I have been trying to wash it out for about 2 weeks and yet the waxy feeling remains. Please help and advise me on what i should do to remove the glue liked wax on my hair. I'm panicking as i'm afraid that i may need to cut them of!!!
